About Hippie Snacks
Great food is our specialty; Doing good business is our priority.

A Word From Our Founder, Ian Walker
Hi, I’m Ian Walker, Founder of Hippie Snacks. Since 1996, we’ve been on a mission to reinvent snacking by using sustainably sourced real food ingredients while also delivering incredible taste. We started by being any early certified organic manufacturing pioneer in the late 1990s and have evolved into a company that develops and manufactures innovative and tasty snacks while keeping our core values and purpose in mind. We love making food ourselves and bringing better for you options to the masses. Plus we know that no matter how good for you or the planet a food product is, it doesn’t matter unless it tastes great!
Created for Taste, Committed to Nutrition
We might be a group of fun, wacky people, but when it comes to nutrition… we mean business. Our snacks are crafted with ingredients that are sustainably harvested from farmers and processors we trust. These products are nutrient dense, minimally processed, and highly tasty. Go ahead and call us granola (we’ll take that as a compliment).

At our core, we believe in…
When food is made right, it does more than just taste good—it makes a difference. We’re picky about our ingredients, choosing what’s best for you, the farmers, the community, and the planet because being good people means making good choices.
We believe in keeping it real and honest with you. From choosing top-quality ingredients to crafting our snacks, we stick to principles that reflect who we are: good people making good food you can trust.
-
We believe in running a sustainable business, being good neighbors, and giving back to the communities where we live, work, and play. Our commitment extends beyond just sustainability; we strive to be good people and do the right thing, both in retail and in business. We feel that businesses have a responsibility to be positive contributors to society, and we are dedicated to upholding these values in everything we do
-
Our ingredients are as close to their natural state as possible—nothing added, nothing taken away—ensuring full flavour and nutrients. Our commitment to Non-GMO is 100%. All of our products are Non-GMO Project Verified, ensuring nothing genetically engineered makes its way into your food.
-
Buying local strengthens our economy, builds community, and reduces our environmental footprint. We connect directly with farmers to ensure fair deals and fewer steps from farm to table.
-
We choose suppliers and growers who prioritize sustainable practices, carefully reviewing their methods from farming to processing, transportation, and beyond.

Certified B Corporation
Doing the right thing is always our thing.
In our world, doing good business goes far deeper than making great food and serving our customers. It’s also about doing what’s best for the planet and the people who inhabit it. As one of Canada’s founding Certified B Corporations, we’re not afraid to go off the beaten path in order to use our business as a force for good.

Our sustainability practices
At Hippie Snacks, we view our business through green-coloured glasses. We understand that sustainability isn’t an end goal, it’s a long game that calls for continuous learning, action and improvement.
-
As a natural foods manufacturing company, we’re constantly looking for ways to minimize carbon emissions. That means using ferries or trains over trucks wherever possible and incentivizing employees to find eco-friendly means of getting to work.
-
We’re proud to use renewable, green energy and gas alternatives supplied by our pals at Bullfrog Power, and like to keep it green in the office with energy-efficient lighting, thermostats, and tech.
-
We purchase from suppliers and growers who are on the same page as us when it comes to sustainable business practices. That means doing our homework first to make sure they tick all the right boxes with their growing, processing, transportation and human resource practices.
-
We’re constantly on the lookout for ways to make our packaging footprint smaller. For now, that means using eco-friendly packaging, smaller bags, smaller shipping cases, and solvent-free lamination bags. We look forward to shaking this up as technology advances.
Community Initiatives
To us, community engagement and sustainability are a big deal. We’re big believers that businesses should positively impact society, which is why we allocate a minimum of 5% of our annual profits to causes we care about. We support environment and youth-focused community projects that are paving the path for a brighter tomorrow, and have teamed up with organizations like the Take A Hike Foundation and the Nature Conservancy of Canada. To encourage our employees to spread kindness, we give everyone three paid days off per year to volunteer for their community cause of choice. We also make sure to show some love to our local food banks, like Quest and Friends in Need, because we believe everyone deserves access to good, nutritious food.
